Who we are

We as local residents of Meir Heath and Rough Close, were faced with a daunting challenge when we heard the news that our beloved Grindley Heath was in danger of being sold and developed. But instead of succumbing to despair, we rallied together with unwavering determination. In the face of adversity, our small founding group sprang into action, knowing that we had to protect our precious heathland. We worked tirelessly to ensure that safeguards were put in place, refusing to let this invaluable piece of nature slip through our fingers. And then something incredible happened. Hundreds of residents, united by a common cause, joined forces with us. 

The way our community came together was nothing short of phenomenal. It was in that moment that we realised the power of unity, the strength that lies within each and every one of us. Inspired by this extraordinary display of solidarity, we had an idea. We saw an opportunity to create something truly special – a formal community group that would embody the spirit of our resilient community. And so, the Meir Heath and Rough Close Community Action Group was born. But our journey does not end here. We are just getting started. Our founding group, with hearts full of passion and dedication, will serve as the founding Trustees of our charity. And when we gain charitable status, we will invite more individuals to join us as Trustees, strengthening our collective efforts to fulfil our mission.

Together, we will protect our heathland, communities and our build and natural heritage, ensuring that its beauty and serenity remain for generations to come.
